Salutations VIT’s (Very Important Tea People),
As we roll towards the end of the summer season, we’re swapping our iced teas for pumpkin spiced lattes to warm our hands in the wet and windy weather… However, much to our surprise we’ve seen some gorgeous sunshine this September!
Since our last blog post, our wee Tea Studio has seen some new and exciting autumnal additions, including cinnamon swirl blondies and of course the ultimate autumn staple, the pumpkin spiced latte. We’ve also had a few learning curves to get round in these past few weeks…but we’re excited about the new changes they’ve brought us and we’re looking onwards and upwards to what’s coming next!
The change in season comes with a few changes to our wee village too… Most of you will know Mallaig as a bustling wee place where the sun always shines (😉) and the streets run happily with tourists, fish & chips, and half-melted ice creams. However, once the steam train stops and the sun gets shy, the village empties and Mallaig is left to rest after its annual rush. Local businesses reduce their hours but continue to work tirelessly behind the scenes, the seasonal staff return to their homes, and Annabelle the harbour seal perfects her tricks for the next season of adoring fans.
Meanwhile, here at the Tea Studio we’ve selected some of our favourite teas to keep us cozy during the coming autumn chill…
This Season's Selection…
Scottish Breakfast Tea - a true classic that caters to all weather and every season. This ‘just a normal tea’ is what everyone knows and loves, and since autumn is all about the changing seasons, why not taste a touch of comfort?
Munro Blend - one of our special blends - warm, smoky, and delicious, this hand-blended tea is rich in flavour and incredibly wholesome. The perfect tea after a chilly autumn walk!
Rhubarb & Ginger - one of our special blends - Another fabulous autumn walk companion. Nothing beats a good view and a flask of this tea on a crisp & sunny autumn morning. It’s refreshingly warming and feels good for the soul.
Pumpkin Spice - one of our special blends - It doesn’t get more autumn than this…this gorgeously wholesome black tea boasts notes of cinnamon whilst holding a subtle sweetness from the pumpkin. It’s uplifting, cosy, and the perfect autumn drink.
Chai Fire - Spicy, fire-y, and packed full of flavour… this ginger and chilli-filled tea is one of our favourites and definitely one to sip through the season.
Sleepy Ewe - one of our special blends - A wonderfully relaxing chamomile and lavender infusion. Our hand-blended Sleepy Ewe tea is best enjoyed under a blanket, on the sofa, with your favourite person. If you’re looking for a cup full of comfort, this is the tea for you.
Candy Apple - one of our special blends - designed and blended for Halloween, this deliciously sweet and moreish green tea is sure to compliment the spooky season perfectly.
We’re so lucky here on the West Coast, because although the landscapes and scenery are beautiful in all weathers and seasons - there really is something special about autumn…if you’re in the area, there are some amazing walks where you can really enjoy the changing of the seasons.
Larachmhor Gardens (or Arisaig Gardens) is absolutely stunning this time of year. The leaves turn golden amongst the few flowers that remain on the rhododendron branches from the summer, and the well-trodden paths are speckled with patches of sunlight.
The autumn sunsets over Traigh beach and golf course are second to none. Shell searching or wave walking in your wellies with a flask of your favourite tea is a wonderful way to spend an evening.
A walk down Loch an Nostarie is a must-do in all seasons…it’s a gentle wee stroll with exceptional views, however wellies or proper footwear is recommended! Perfect for a gander or an afternoon picnic.
Another exceptional walk is from Loch Morar to Tarbet. You can gaze over the gorgeous landscapes while searching for Morag, Loch Morar’s resident creature & Nessie’s cousin! There are sheep, small beaches, and so much beauty in the landscape that you’ll have to stop for every photo opportunity.
Even just a walk around the Mallaig harbour in the autumn sun is enough to brighten anyone’s day - especially when the Bakehouse is open…
Should you find yourself up our way over the coming months, please pop in and see us as we’re glad to announce that we’ll be open over the winter! (With reduced hours, but we’ll be here to cater to all your tea-drinking and cake-eating needs!)
We hope that you’re wrapped up warm and enjoying this beautiful season as much as we are, and once again, thanks for reading!
As always, watch this space for all things tea!
Love from all at the WHTC x
